Quarkle comes in two moods: Paper, a bright light theme, and Midnight, a restful dark one. Write in whichever feels right for the hour.

Follow the clock, or choose your own

By default, Quarkle follows your local clock. It uses Paper during the day and Midnight in the evening, switching around 6:30pm. You can also set the theme yourself:
1

Open Settings

Click your avatar in the top-right of the editor.
2

Find Preferences

In the Settings sheet, go to the Preferences section.
3

Toggle the theme

Flip the Paper / dark mode toggle to set the theme you want.
Your choice persists across sessions. Quarkle remembers it the next time you sign in.
