# Sharing & collaboration

> Invite readers to your manuscript, or turn on a public reading link.

You can share a manuscript for reading without giving up control of the words. Open **Share** in the left rail. Only the owner can share.

## Overview

Share does two things: invite specific people by email, or publish a public reading link.

## Invite people

<Steps>
  <Step title="Enter an email">
    Type a person's email in the invite field and confirm.
  </Step>

  <Step title="They join as a collaborator">

  </Step>

  <Step title="Manage access">
    Everyone with access shows in the people list. Remove anyone whenever you want.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Public reading link

Under **Visibility settings**, keep the manuscript **private**, or turn on a **public reading link**. Anyone with the link can read it. Turn it off to make the manuscript private again.

## Roles

* **Owner**: full control, including sharing.
* **Collaborator**: read-only.
* **Public viewer**: read-only through the link, with no AI panel.

<Note>
  A manuscript shared with you shows up in your own Library. See [create and open a manuscript](/getting-started/create-a-manuscript).
