The [Review Room](/ai/review-room) works line by line. A **Report** steps back, reads the whole thing, chapter or book, and writes up its findings as a structured dossier: a verdict, a revision plan, and a set of focused sections depending on how deep you go. ## Overview Open the **Report** tab. Pick a tier and a scope, send it to Scribe, and read the dossier when it lands. The Reports Config tab showing the four tier options, scope picker, and send to Scribe button ## Choose a report Four tiers, each a deeper read than the last: | Tier | What it covers | | ------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Editorial letter** | The verdict, what's working, the revision plan. | | **Craft & voice** | Everything above, plus point of view, prose voice, themes and motifs. | | **Developmental** (Pro) | Everything above, plus structure, characters, pacing, and the promise threads running through your book. | | **Full assessment** (Pro) | Everything above, plus the book map: tension scene by scene, and a verified continuity check. | A deeper tier reads more closely and writes more sections, so it costs more time and tokens. Quarkle shows both estimates, and how many reports you have left today, right on the **send to scribe** button before you commit to a run. ## Run a report In the Creative Companion, open **Report**, then **Config**. Choose one of the four tiers above, then **This chapter** or **Whole book**. Each option shows its word count. Click **+ add a note to the editor** to tell Scribe what to focus on, for example *"Focus on the middle act, I'm worried the twist lands too late."* Up to 280 characters. A note makes for a more considered read, so it adds to the time estimate. Click **send to scribe**. Reports run silently in the background, there's no chat back-and-forth, just one finished dossier when it's ready. A report needs at least **500 words** in scope, and you can run up to **10 a day**. A deep tier on a long manuscript can take several minutes. ## Reading the dossier A finished report opens under its own masthead, in the voice of **The Quarkle Press**. Its tabs adjust to what the report actually contains, a lean Editorial Letter might show only Verdict, Story, and The Plan, while a Full Assessment shows every tab below. The Verdict tab of an editorial report, showing the verdict paragraph, what's working list, and a How It Reads stats sidebar * **Verdict.** The overall read, a **what's working** list tagged to chapters, a **how it reads** sidebar (a readability score, grade level, sentence length, dialogue share, estimated read time), and a short digest of the revision plan. The how-it-reads numbers are measured straight from your text, not the model's impression of it. * **The Plan.** Every fix, sorted into three honest severity classes: **critical** (the book doesn't work for a reader without this), **recommended** (a clear improvement), and **optional** (polish and taste). An empty critical list is a good sign, Quarkle doesn't invent problems to fill it. * **Story.** The story as read, a structure and plot breakdown with turning points called out (and flagged if one doesn't land), and how the opening, climax, and resolution work. * **Themes.** What's coming through, and where a theme's follow-through slips. * **People.** Each major character's want, need, arc, and the beats that carry them, chapter by chapter. * **Presence.** A heatmap of who's on the page, chapter by chapter. These are exact counts from your manuscript, not the model's guess. * **Rhythm.** Where pacing drags or rushes, plus point-of-view and voice consistency. * **The Read.** Where a reader's attention is likely to drift, or where they'd genuinely get lost. * **Threads.** Every commitment your book makes, tracked from where it's made to whether it pays off. A dropped thread isn't a formatting gap, it's a finding. * **Scene Map** (chapter reports) or **The Map** (whole-book reports).
