The **Drawing Room** turns your manuscript into pictures. Use it for a book cover, a character portrait, a place, an object, or a moment from a chapter. Quarkle reads the context you choose, writes an image prompt for you to review, and draws one or more takes. You still make every decision. The prompt is visible and editable, a generated take enters your Gallery only after you keep it, and you choose which picture represents the book or an Atlas entry. ## Overview Open **Art** in the Creative Companion. The **Gallery** holds the pictures you kept. **Generate** opens the four-step drawing flow. The Drawing Room Gallery with two lighthouse cover illustrations, one marked as the cover ## Make a picture Choose what the picture is about from your Story Atlas, and optionally add one chapter. You can select several characters, places, or objects. Choose nothing when you want Quarkle to work from the book as a whole, which is a good starting point for cover art. Add a rough description, choose a style, and add any pictures the result should match. The description is optional. If you leave it empty, Quarkle works from the gathered context alone. Quarkle writes the full image prompt and shows it before drawing. Edit any wording, choose a shape, or ask Quarkle to write it again. Click **draw it**. Open a take to inspect it, then **keep** every result you want in the Gallery. Unkept takes are discarded when you draw again. ## 1. Gather context Search your Atlas and chapters, then click each item you want to include. The first Drawing Room step with searchable chapters, characters, and world entries Context does more than add names to a prompt: * An **Atlas entry** brings the note Quarkle knows about that character, place, or object. * A **chapter** brings what happens in that chapter. You can add one chapter per picture. * An entry that already has a canonical picture brings that picture along as a visual reference. * No selection tells Quarkle to consider the book itself. For a scene, gather every important character or place and add the chapter where the moment happens. For a portrait, gather only that character unless another detail matters. ## 2. Describe the picture Write what you want in ordinary language. A fragment is enough. Quarkle expands it using the context you gathered. You can also choose what the new picture should look like: * **Drawn to match**: add up to six pictures from the Gallery. Quarkle matches their medium, palette, line quality, and finish. It also keeps any person or object in them recognizable. * **Style**: choose from the visual shelf, let Quarkle choose, or describe your own style. Quarkle uses the new prompt for what happens in the picture. Reuse one or two strong references across a book. This helps covers, portraits, and scenes feel like they belong to the same visual world. ## Choose a style The style shelf compares many ways of drawing the same road at dusk. Browse families such as Painted, Drawn, Printed, Traditions, Book and poster, Comics and screen, Made by hand, and Photographic. If you do not choose a style, Quarkle picks one that fits the book and returns it with the prompt. ## 3. Review the prompt and shape Quarkle shows the exact words it will draw from. This is the cheapest place to correct a missed detail, remove an unwanted object, or change the mood. Open **more options** to request from one to four. Each returned take counts as one picture against your daily allowance. ## 4. Keep the takes you want Drawing can take several minutes. When the takes arrive, click a picture to inspect it at full size, then click **keep** on every result you want. Two generated lighthouse cover takes ready to inspect and keep From here you can: * **draw again** with the same prompt and settings * **change the words** before trying again * **start over** with new context * **open in the Gallery** after keeping at least one take If one take is refused but another succeeds, Quarkle returns the successful work. A refused take does not use the picture allowance. ## Attach a picture to your book Open a generated picture in the Gallery and use **attach to**. Choose: * **The book cover** to show it on the manuscript card in the Studio * an Atlas entry to use it as that character, place, or object's picture * **Nothing in particular** to keep it only in the Gallery A generated lighthouse image attached to the book cover and marked canonical You can attach several pictures to the same subject, but only one is **canonical**. Open another attached picture and click **make this one canonical** to switch which image is shown. When a picture is attached to **The book cover**, the canonical image appears on that manuscript's card in the Studio Library. Open any picture to see it larger. You can delete generated images from the grid or their detail view. Images you drop into [Quarkle Chat](/ai/quarkle-chat) also appear in the Gallery. They can be used as references, but only pictures generated in the Drawing Room can be attached as a cover or Atlas portrait. The Drawing Room produces safe-for-work images. If a prompt is refused, soften explicit details and describe the mood, framing, clothing, or aftermath instead. ## Picture allowance The counter above the first step shows your current daily picture allowance and how many takes you have drawn. If your plan has a Gallery limit, Quarkle shows that beside it. After the launch period, the standard limits are: | Plan | Pictures per day | Kept pictures per book | | ---------------------------- | ---------------: | ---------------------: | | **Free plan** (Writer/Basic) | 5 | 10 | | **Pro** | 50 | No fixed Gallery limit | Quarkle may temporarily increase an allowance during a launch or promotion. The numbers shown inside the Drawing Room are always the current limits. Write mature fiction with an unfiltered text model.
