# Usage & limits

> How Quarkle's daily token and picture allowances work.

Quarkle meters AI usage as a **daily token allowance**. For everyday writing you'll rarely think about it. It's easy to check whenever you want.

</Frame>

## Check your usage

Open your **avatar → Usage**. You'll see:

* **Tokens used today**, against your daily allowance
* A **countdown to reset**

Your allowance **resets daily at 03:30 America/Chicago**.

## Basic vs. Pro

Both plans have a daily cap. **Pro** has a much larger daily allowance than **Basic**.

<Note>
  Everyday writing rarely comes close to the cap. [Ghostwriter](/editor/ghostwriter), Chat, reviews, and other text AI features all use this allowance. Heavy [Review Room](/ai/review-room) runs and long [Chat](/ai/quarkle-chat) sessions use the most.
</Note>

Curious about the difference? See [plans & pricing](/account/plans).

## Picture allowance

The [Drawing Room](/ai/drawing-room) has a separate picture allowance. Its counter shows how many pictures you have drawn today and your current limit. Each returned take counts as one picture, so a draw that returns two takes uses two.

If your plan has a per-book Gallery limit, the Drawing Room shows that count too. Delete a generated picture to make room for another kept image.
