# Subscriptions

> How to upgrade to Pro, manage your plan, and cancel.

Everything about your plan lives in **Settings → Manage Subscription**, opened from your avatar at the top right. What you see there depends on whether you are on the free plan or on Pro.

## Upgrade to Pro

There are two ways to start:

* The **go pro** pill in the editor's top bar.
* **Settings → Manage Subscription → upgrade subscription**.

Either one opens the Pro upgrade. New writers get a **14-day trial**, no card required. After the trial it is **\$4.99** for the first month, then **\$19.99/month**, or **\$120/year**. Checkout is handled by our payment partner, Stripe.

    Model selection, the full [Story Atlas](/ai/story-atlas), [custom reviewers](/ai/custom-reviewers), and [Open Expression](/account/manage-your-account) unlock right away.

## Manage or cancel (Pro)

Once you're on Pro, **Settings → Manage Subscription** shows a **manage account** button. It opens your billing portal with our payment partner. From there you can:

* Update your card
* Switch between monthly and yearly
* **Cancel**

<Note>
  Canceling takes effect at the **end of your current billing period**. You keep Pro until then, and nothing is deleted. Your manuscripts and your Story Atlas stay exactly as they are.

## Trials and reactivating

While you're on a trial, Manage Subscription shows a **trial** badge and the date your access is active until. To come back after canceling, open **Settings → Manage Subscription** again and resubscribe.

  Canceling a subscription is not the same as deleting your account. Canceling keeps your data and drops you to the free plan. To remove your data entirely, see [Manage your account](/account/manage-your-account).
